ELECTRIFY YOUR DRIVES
Innovation And Power
The Class-Exclusive PHEV powertrain is both pure innovation and pure power. While it definitely sounds different in nearly silent all-electric operation, the performance undeniably improves upon the legendary abilities of Grand Cherokee.
Explore Responsibly
Jeep® Grand Cherokee has always been about the freedom to explore our world. With nearly silent operation, a 24-mile all electric range and a 440-mile combined driving range, the 4xe gives you the freedom to adventure nearly anywhere while doing your part in the shift to a more sustainable future.
THE MOST CAPABLE GRAND CHEROKEE EVER
Quadra-Drive II 4x4 System
This available system features a two-speed low transfer case that uses sensors to determine if the tires are slipping. When it does, as much as 100% of available torque is directed to the axle with the most traction.
Electric-Powered And Protected
Designed with rough and rocky terrain in mind, the underbody of 4xe is protected with a reinforced housing to ensure its vital components can handle rugged obstacles.
A TRIO OF DRIVING MODES
Electric Mode
When the battery has more than a 1% charge, it can run in Electric Mode. This allows for nearly zero tailpipe emissions up to highway speeds. The vehicle can run in this mode for up to 21 miles.
Hybrid Mode
The best of both. Hybrid Mode combines the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motor. This efficient combo provides maximum horsepower, instant torque and impressive acceleration.
CHARGING YOUR ADVENTURE
Everyday Charging
For the everyday journey, charging your 4xe is simple. An included Level I charging cable fully charges the battery in 12 hours while an available, simple-to-use and easy to get Level II Jeep® Branded Charger can fully charge your Grand Cherokee 4xe battery in approximately 2 hours.
Charging Made Simple
Up to six times faster than the Level I charger, the available Jeep® Brand Level II PHEV Home Charging Station lets you spend less time charging your PHEV and more time on the road. The easy-to-use quick-release mount features a lockable, weatherproof enclosure for either indoor or outdoor installation. Plus, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity lets you control charging anytime, anywhere via a mobile app and web portal. Its smart grid optimization helps reduce energy costs by charging at low-rate times. Available state and government programs incentivize owning PHEV vehicles, helping lower the cost of owning and driving your PHEV.

Hybrid Setup of the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, or PHEV for short. PHEV systems are comprised of a gas engine, one or more electric motors, and a rechargeable battery pack. For the Grand Cherokee 4xe, this setup includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, two electric motors, and a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack. One of the electric motors replaces the alternator at the front of the engine while the second replaces the transmission's torque converter. This gives the Grand Cherokee 4xe 56 MPG gas equivalent, a combined driving range of 440 miles, and a 25-mile all-electric driving range. Additionally, drivers of the Grand Cherokee 4xe enjoy 375 horsepower and a remarkable 470 lb-ft of immediate torque. 4xe stands for 'four-by-electric', so Jeep equipped all 4xe models with a legendary 4x4 system. Quadra-Trac I is standard equipment, while Quadra-Trac II is optional. Quadra-Drive II with a rear electronic limited-slip differential is standard on the rugged Trailhawk trim for unparalleled off-road traction.
How do I Charge the Grand Cherokee 4xe?
As you've probably put together, the Grand Cherokee 4xe's battery is recharged by being plugged into an EV charger. Upon purchase of their Grand Cherokee 4xe, all owners get a Level I EV charger. A Level I charger plugs into a household wall outlet and uses 120 volts to charge the Grand Cherokee 4xe from 0-100 percent in roughly twelve hours. However, 4xe owners can purchase the Level II charger to reduce the full charge time to as little as two hours. The Level II charger is a hardwired, professionally installed charging unit. Jeep partnered with QMerit to ensure proper installation of all Level II units for Jeep 4xe customers. Like most PHEVs, the Grand Cherokee 4xe also uses regenerative braking to maintain or increase the battery's state of charge. When you boil it down, regenerative braking essentially takes the kinetic energy from the friction between the brake pads and rotors, converts it into electrical energy, and sends it back to the battery pack. The Grand Cherokee 4xe offers a Max Regen feature, which is more aggressive with the regeneration calibration, beginning the regen process when the gas pedal is released and continuing it until the gas is pressed again, maximizing the brake regeneration charge.
What Are the E-Selec Buttons?
To easily give drivers control over their Grand Cherokee 4xe's battery usage, Jeep invented the E-Selec buttons, allowing drivers to choose between Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. Hybrid is the default setting using a mix of gas and electric power. Electric mode, which can be used when the battery has a minimum of 1% of charge left, shuts off the flow of fuel to the engine, turning it off and using only electric power for silent emissions-free driving. E-Save mode does the opposite, powering down the electric motors, stopping the flow of electricity, and operating solely on gas power, saving battery life and recharging through brake regeneration.
